ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for identifying, developing, and leading the execution of high-impact projects and strategies that align with ScotiaMcLeod's long-term objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives for ScotiaMcLeod, engaging directly with key stakeholders across all Scotia Wealth Management business lines.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and internal evaluations to uncover growth and enhancement opportunities.
  • Manage assigned projects comprehensively, including scope, budget, risk, resources, planning, and both internal and external communications. Ensure that the necessary resources and support are secured for timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Assist the ScotiaMcLeod leadership team in planning, executing, and monitoring internal cross-functional programs and procedures.
  • Proactively identify initiatives and processes that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with relevant parties to keep projects and initiatives on track, maintaining an active list of initiatives, responsible stakeholders, and implementation timelines.
  • Develop and execute change management activities specifically related to assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to identify improvement opportunities and process efficiencies, consulting with key partners and stakeholders to enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Understand the Bank's risk appetite and culture, ensuring these considerations are integrated into daily activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment where the team strives for effective and efficient operations in line with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
  • Foster a high-performance environment by implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates team members, promoting an inclusive workplace and utilizing a coaching mindset; communicate vision, values, and business strategy; and manage succession and development planning for the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate strategy or consulting, particularly in wealth management, banking, or financial services, is preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills, complemented by exceptional business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with stakeholders across diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with other teams and senior executives.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership capabilities in Building Strategic Relationships and Customer Focus.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
