Animal Care Specialist

Located in the Balcarres, SK area, this role offers a competitive starting wage of $19.00 – $23.08 per hour. Housing is available for rent, and our company-paid benefits package includes Major Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and enrollment in the Maple Leaf Pension Plan.
Job Summary
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with all areas of production, including feeding and general care of pigs, maintaining herd health and environment, and performing general maintenance, cleaning, and clerical duties. This role requires strong team and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A valid driver's license and ability to work in a rural area are required.
Responsibilities
• Assist with feeding and general care of pigs
• Maintain herd health and environment
• Perform general maintenance, cleaning, and clerical duties
• Maintain door charts, inventory trackers, and order feed and medication
• Work as part of a team to achieve production goals
Requirements
• Willingness and ability to learn
• Strong team and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently
• Positive work ethic and attitude, attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
• Ability to lift 25kg
• Valid driver's license and ability to work in a rural area
Preferred Experience
Experience in hog production is considered an asset. Weekend, holiday hours, and alarm attending are required on a rotational basis.
