Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Waste Processing Technician. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements and company protocols.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Verify that incoming waste conforms to acceptance criteria, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Operate processing machinery and equipment as required, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times, promoting a culture of safety and risk awareness among team members.
  • Complete paperwork and documentation accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely submission and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct job hazard risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing controls to mitigate risks.
  • Promote a safety culture within the team, encouraging open communication and a commitment to safety excellence.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform general shop clean-up and maintenance tasks, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as required, supporting the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the operations team.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license, with a clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform moderately labor-intensive and repetitious tasks, with a high level of physical fitness and stamina.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
