Job Title: Personal Support Worker - Reactivation Care Centre

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our dynamic team in the Reactivation Care Centre. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients, promoting their independence, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist nursing personnel in providing personal care to residents, including hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
  • Perform direct and indirect patient care activities, such as recording nutrition and hydration intake, and providing preventative skin care.
  • Support patients' independence, dignity, social, emotional, and cultural well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with elderly patients and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Completed Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a College of Applied Arts and Technology.
  • 1-2 years experience in inpatient Geriatric/Rehab or Long-Term Care experience.
  • Experience working with patients with cognitive impairment/dementia and experience working with patients who exhibit responsive behaviors preferred.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Infection Control Practices.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to foster caring and trusting relationships with elderly patients and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with team members.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to function independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and development.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent Attendance Record.
  • Skilled in Point of Care (POC), preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required.
  • Ability to speak a second language an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
What We Offer:

As a Personal Support Worker at North York General Hospital, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada's leading hospitals. This is a Part-Time temporary position of 12 months with 8 and 12 hours shifts, Days, Evenings, Nights, and Weekends in the Reactivation Care Centre Unit 4 & 5 at Site: 555 Finch Ave W.

We offer a highly competitive total compensation package, which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay, and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital's Occupational Health and Safety department.
