Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

In accordance with the clinical environment, candidates must possess one of the following:

A Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) from an accredited institution, or a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.). Candidates must hold current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Relevant experience in social work, particularly within a healthcare context, and proven clinical proficiency are essential.

For roles involving Child, Youth & Family, a Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution is required:

  • Eligibility for full registration with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW).
  • In-depth clinical knowledge of substance use disorders, potentially alongside mental health issues, including psychosis, early mood disorders, and concurrent disorders, along with understanding diagnostic criteria, treatment methodologies, rehabilitation, and community support.
  • Expertise in mental health assessments, substance use evaluations, suicide risk assessments, counseling methodologies, and interviewing techniques.
  • A minimum of two years of recent experience working with children, youth, and families in mental health or related fields, including experience in mental health assessment and treatment for this demographic; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A valid BC driver's license is required.
