Key Responsibilities:

As a Security Officer, you will be tasked with ensuring safety and security throughout the facility during your assigned 12-hour rotating shifts. Your duties will include:
  • Conducting proactive and reactive security patrols within the hospital premises.
  • Writing detailed reports and investigating routine incidents.
  • Responding swiftly to emergency codes and situations.
  • Providing exceptional customer service, particularly to individuals in distress or requiring medical assistance.
  • Maintaining physical fitness to perform duties that may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
  • Monitoring security concerns and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Collaborating in the development of security strategies for high-risk patients.
  • Offering a visible security presence and support in the Emergency Department.
  • Utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques to effectively manage conflicts.
  • Supervising patient watch guards and ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
  • Partnering with local law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Ensuring the safety of all staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Assisting with patient restraints in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Immunization records including TB, MMR, and Varicella.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification Level C.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check to be completed upon hiring.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a security role.
  • A diploma in Justice Studies or Police Foundations is considered an asset.
