The Senior Cloud Security Architect plays a pivotal role within the Security Vulnerability Management team, focusing on the design and implementation of secure cloud infrastructures. This position emphasizes the importance of security best practices, actively identifying and addressing risks, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations, while guiding the organization to align security measures with its business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to architect, deploy, and sustain secure cloud and application infrastructures, with a focus on network segmentation, access controls, encryption, monitoring, and vulnerability management. Promote security best practices and proactive threat mitigation across the organization. Develop and uphold cloud security standards, utilizing industry frameworks (NIST, CIS, etc.) and recommendations from cloud service providers. Assess designs and architectures for potential vulnerabilities, recommending measures for risk mitigation. Ensure the seamless integration of cloud security solutions across both cloud and on-premises environments.

Success Factors:

Establish strong relationships within SRE teams to effectively advocate for security initiatives and drive organizational improvements. Achieve a comprehensive understanding of Lightspeed's intricate cloud environments. Lead complex cloud security projects from inception to completion, engaging stakeholders as necessary. Contribute to a reduction in organizational risk through enhanced cloud architecture, controls, and remediation of vulnerabilities.

Required Experience:

7 years of extensive hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing security within large-scale cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.). A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, cybersecurity, network engineering, or a related field. Significant experience in aligning systems with compliance regulations (PCI DSS, SOC2, etc.) and conducting risk assessments. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, or Google Cloud Certified Professional Security Engineer. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives. Conduct regular risk and vulnerability assessments of cloud infrastructures, applications, and data. Prioritize and manage vulnerabilities based on severity and potential impact. Collaborate closely with cloud architects, engineers, developers, and operations teams to enhance security posture based on assessment findings. Participate in incident response and assist in remediation efforts. Research and select security tools and technologies suitable for the organization's vulnerability management program. Mentor fellow security team members, fostering expertise across various cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure). Develop automation to detect, alert, and protect against malicious activities. Generate reports and metrics to monitor vulnerability trends, remediation progress, and compliance with security standards.

Additional Requirements:

Availability for on-call incident response. Contribute to team objectives, even when tasks extend beyond the immediate scope of your role.

Essential Skills:

Experience with Application Vulnerability Management, SAST, and DAST. Familiarity with Vulnerability Management tools such as Rapid7 InsightAppSec, Snyk, Github, and Crowdstrike Falcon. Expert-level knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and security principles. In-depth understanding of security principles, access controls (IAM), network security, encryption, vulnerability management, threat modeling, and incident response. Expertise in designing and implementing cloud security architectures. Knowledge of security frameworks, regulations, and compliance requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to excel in cross-functional collaboration. Adaptability to a complex and evolving environment.
