Job Summary

The Director, Centre for Academic Excellence will provide strategic leadership and oversight to the Centre for Academic Excellence at Tyndale University. This role will be responsible for managing the coordination of services provided by the Centre, including academic support, student success initiatives, and institutional committee work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Direction
    • Establish and implement short-term and long-term departmental goals that align with the university's strategic priorities.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, including recruitment, development, and motivation.
  • Academic Support and Student Success
    • Develop and implement programs and services that contribute to student success and retention.
    • Provide academic counselling and support to students identified as at-risk or through referral.
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement programs and services that support student success.
  • Institutional Committee Work
    • Chair the Student Accessibility Advisory Committee.
    • Member of the Academic Standards Committee, Academic Probation Committee, Undergraduate Admissions Committee, and Enrollment Committee.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Undergraduate degree in English, Psychology, Communications, or related field.
    • Master's degree in Higher Education, English, Psychology, or Counselling preferred.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years in postsecondary academic support and administration.
    • Knowledge of Tyndale academic programs preferred.
    • Counselling experience preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Understanding of factors that drive student success and motivation.
    • Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and priority management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Physical and Mental Demands

The Director, Centre for Academic Excellence will work in a general office environment and may be exposed to moderate to high levels of stress. The role requires excellent patience and diplomacy when responding to inquiries and resolving student concerns.
