We are seeking a skilled and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Meat and Seafood Clerk at Your Independent Grocer. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional service to our customers by ensuring the highest quality and freshness of our meat and seafood products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers in selecting meat and seafood products, offering recommendations and suggestions to enhance their shopping experience.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store meat and seafood shipments, adhering to food safety standards and company protocols.
- Prepare meat and seafood products for display, including filleting, trimming, grinding, and packaging, ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat and seafood department, including display cases and work areas, to create a welcoming and efficient shopping environment.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and stocking meat and seafood products, ensuring that we always have a wide selection of products available to meet customer demand.
- Ensure accurate pricing and labeling of meat and seafood items, maintaining the integrity of our pricing and inventory systems.
- Follow proper food handling procedures to maintain product freshness and safety, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve department goals and provide exceptional customer service, working together to create a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a meat or seafood department is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of different cuts of meat, seafood varieties, and preparation techniques is essential for success in this role.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow food safety protocols is critical for maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in our meat and seafood department.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are necessary for providing exceptional service to our customers and working effectively with team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently is essential for success in this role.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required to meet the needs of our customers and support the success of our business.
- Physical stamina to lift and carry heavy objects, work inside fridges and freezers, and stand for extended periods is necessary for performing the duties of this role.
