KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Engineering Duties
Lead and manage electrical design and execution while ensuring adherence to specifications, regulations, and project requirements. Monitor and report on compliance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures. Develop designs for components such as cable tray configurations, electrical equipment layouts, lighting designs, and low voltage single line diagrams. Conduct electrical calculations including volt-drop, heat loss, illumination levels, transformer sizing, and panel loading. Create specifications for the procurement of materials and equipment. Utilize engineering and design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation/PDS. Provide expert guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving engineering challenges. Generate technical documentation, reports, calculations, and sketches. Foster collaborative relationships to ensure effective problem resolution with all stakeholders. Perform assigned electrical studies. Develop conceptual designs for various projects. Prepare specifications as required. Estimate costs and develop equipment layouts. Oversee the execution of designs. Provide resource assessments and project timelines. Make informed technical decisions. Coordinate with other electrical members of the project team. Maintain comprehensive records of project resources. Participate in departmental training initiatives. Stay updated on electrical engineering advancements and industry best practices. Support Business Development efforts. Assist the Business Development Team in managing and expanding existing client relationships. Aid in the growth and development of new client bases. Contribute to Business Development activities, including proposal preparation and participation in networking events.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS
5 to 8 years of relevant experience post-graduation, with potential PMP certification or equivalent experience. Professional Engineer designation in BC or another Canadian province. Proven experience in designing distribution-related electrical systems is advantageous. Experience in designing Building Systems, such as fire alarms, data/voice systems, security, and lighting controls. Familiarity with hospital systems, including nurse call systems and various power systems. Strong understanding of engineering principles and theories. Proficient in using ETAP for power system analysis. Skilled in AGI32 for lighting analysis. Basic to intermediate proficiency in drafting tools like AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation is preferred. Capable of performing detailed calculations to ensure compliance with engineering standards and codes. Experience across multiple project phases, including design, tendering, construction supervision, and commissioning is a plus. Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License for travel to project sites. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
