About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Surveyor to join our team on the Darlington New Nuclear Project. As a Senior Surveyor, you will be responsible for survey planning and execution on the Nuclear and Conventional Island, including methods of survey and inspection, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor project Control and Measurement Plans for high precision industrial mechanical and equipment layout, laser scanning and metrology inspection activities and identify risks, and issues across all bundles.
  • Direct coordination of control and resources between project bundles to manage survey support of construction schedule priorities.
  • Provides input and approve safety plans and procedures for survey and inspection tasks as required.
  • Responsible for the implementation and enforcement of safety, quality, and human performance programs.
  • Ensures that Aecon policies and project procedures are being adhered to and followed by survey personnel.
  • Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns to Survey Assembly Manager.
  • Ensure survey personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.
  • Review and provide support in the creation of survey quality, progress, or as built documentation.
  • Ensure project survey is carried out in compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances and project schedule and budget.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
  • Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality plans.
  • Perform regular field tours to check survey progress and meet with project site personnel.
  • Carry out site safety inspections.
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests, within Limits of Authority.
  • Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.
  • Ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies (Aecon and customer policy).
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years Industrial Surveying experience.
  • 2 years nuclear construction experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Industrial Survey such as: High Precision Plant Control networks adjustment, High Precision Instruments such as Total Stations, Laser Scanners and Trackers.
  • Experienced in leading Industrial survey staff in reporting of quality and project controls deliverables.
  • Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, isometrics, and specifications.
  • Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
