Facility Services Operations Supervisor

Position Type:

The Facility Services Operations Supervisor plays a vital role within the branch leadership team, focusing on the implementation of service excellence standards. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining a clean and well-kept environment, ensuring a high-quality experience for all members.

This hands-on role encompasses the creation and execution of a comprehensive cleaning strategy alongside a preventative maintenance program, which includes asset refurbishment and facility enhancement projects.

Provide direct leadership to the Facility Services team, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility.

Oversee a diverse team of full-time and part-time cleaning staff and volunteers, including responsibilities for hiring, training, scheduling, payroll management, and performance evaluations.

In alignment with operational needs, coordinate and prioritize internal and external trades for maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and building systems.

Collaborate with the General Manager to effectively manage the branch's physical assets, ensuring optimal equipment reliability, safety, compliance, and the execution of selected capital projects.

Manage departmental budgets, contributing to both capital and operational expense budgets annually. Order necessary supplies and materials, and process payments for goods and services.

Foster positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers. Participate in front-line duties and scheduled management shifts as required.

Implement and utilize YMCA SAM standards (training will be provided) throughout the facility.

Work collaboratively with peers to ensure consistent delivery of supplies and services in accordance with association and departmental policies.

Preferred qualifications include two years of post-secondary education leading to a Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) designation or equivalent, along with five years of experience in building operations and proven trade skills in areas such as:

  • Electrical/Plumbing/Carpentry
  • Mechanical & HVAC systems
  • Operation of a BAS control system (understanding, troubleshooting, and adjustments)

Additionally, candidates should possess:

  • Three years of relevant experience in building operations and maintenance
  • Three years of supervisory and budget management experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as email and word processing software
  • A strong work ethic with excellent organizational and planning skills
