The Terminal Manager is accountable for all facets of operations, ensuring that efficiency, timely deliveries, and safety benchmarks are consistently achieved. Through effective leadership and a hands-on management style, this position will drive terminal performance, implement strategic initiatives, meet set objectives, and cultivate employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with various departments and terminals to remove obstacles in the transportation of equipment and freight, maximizing utilization while minimizing costs. Oversee the daily operations of the terminal, ensuring that performance, quality, and service standards are upheld, including monitoring cleanliness, ensuring timely dispatch of orders, and assessing equipment requirements to meet customer needs. Manage employee relations and performance evaluations within the terminal, promoting a culture of trust, open dialogue, and accountability. Generate reports on performance metrics, freight damage, incidents, customer feedback, and employee performance to inform decision-making processes. Partner with senior management to anticipate equipment and staffing requirements based on operational volumes and customer demand. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, training requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.

Technical Proficiencies

Proficient in computer applications with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office. Familiarity with the TruckMate system is advantageous.

Working Environment

Fast-paced terminal and office setting. Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. High volume of communication through electronic means.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of five years in the transportation and logistics sector or a related field, or a combination of relevant experience and education, such as a CITT Supply Chain and Logistics Certification or other pertinent qualifications. At least two years in a supervisory role within a terminal environment. Knowledge of the transportation industry, particularly in relation to regional geography and travel times, is considered beneficial.
