The RoleWe are seeking a skilled and client-focused professional to join our team as a CIMT Sonographer. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and fibroscan procedures for clients during their Annual Health Assessment and other services at Medcan.
Key Responsibilities- Run Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) tests with full competence, owning all aspects of the role/service including both the scan and report.
- Perform ultrasound examinations as established in the Ultrasound Procedure Guide.
- Apply independent, professional, ethical judgment, and critical thinking to safely perform diagnostic sonography procedures and document all findings.
- Report findings accurately and on time to reporting physicians.
- Ensure that sonography examination results meet facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation.
- Participate in quality monitoring and evaluation activities and maintain measures to ensure quality standards are met.
- Ensure that equipment performance is optimum, perform appropriate quality control tests, and adjustments to maximize image quality.
- Coordinate with vendors or equipment technicians for preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Maintain inventories, order electronic license keys, and coordinate invoices/cheque requisitions with the financial department.
- Arrange and perform training in CIMT for colleagues when appropriate.
- Participate in CIMT research by manually pulling relevant data for physicians, cardiologists, and researchers.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist with facilitating the flow of patients through the clinic.
- Coordinate with other clinic staff to ensure exceptional delivery of service and client experience.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers, administrators, and members of the healthcare team.
- Member of the Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society (CMBES).
- Completion of a recognized post-diploma Ultrasound program or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience as a sonographer preferred.
- Experience with CIMT is highly preferred.
- Experience with FIBROSCAN considered an asset.
- Superior organization and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent digital technology skills/proficient with computers.
- Proficient in MS Word and Outlook.
