Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our expanding Child, Youth and Family Program. The successful candidate will provide critical support to the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program (CAIP) and Youth Crisis Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct face-to-face psychosocial assessments of referred children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary triage process to determine the best course of action for referred children and adolescents.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referral sources.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Plan and implement milieu interventions and programming through individual, group, and/or family interventions.
  • Implement and model effective behavior management strategies.
  • Organize and lead therapeutic and psycho-education groups.
  • Initiate and/or participate in discharge planning activities, including community agencies and other hospital programs as necessary.
Requirements
  • College diploma or university degree in child and youth work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in crisis assessment and short-term treatment of children and adolescents experiencing severe mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrated interest in intake and assessment work.
  • Proven experience working within a brief acute care model, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare facilities, community support systems, and social service agencies.
  • Effective organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships in a family-centered environment.
  • Working knowledge of French or other languages is an asset.
  • Satisfactory performance record.
