We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing, undertaking, and administering a variety of planning, preliminary, and/or detailed-design highway improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and administer highway improvement projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
- Liaise and work with ministry staff, senior management, internal stakeholders, external agencies, municipalities, developers, consultants, and the public.
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Direct and supervise assigned staff.
- Acquire, administer, and evaluate engineering service providers.
- Lead public consultation programs.
- Provide engineering and technical advice and direction to design staff, management, consultants, and construction staff.
- Protect ministry interests on land development proposals adjacent to transportation corridors.
- Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Valid class G driver's licence or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of civil engineering related to highway engineering.
- Working knowledge of related fields including geotechnical, pavement design, structural, drainage, surveys, electrical, traffic, and construction practices.
- Project management skills to manage projects, including acquisition and management of consultants.
- Well-developed leadership skills to assign and schedule work.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks at moment's notice to support stakeholder correspondence and area office service requests.
- Proven oral and written communications skills to write reports and present proposals, recommendations, and provide expert evidence.
- Proven effective interpersonal and relationship management skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, senior officials, and the public.
This is a permanent, full-time position with the Ministry of Transportation. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong project management and leadership skills.
