Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a highly accomplished Research Director to lead and modernize its world-class research institute. As a key member of the Senior Executive Team, the successful candidate will assume joint accountability for the attainment of the organization's strategic objectives and be responsible for excellence in research across the entirety of VCH.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the integration of research into practice to inform the improvement of care.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive research strategy that aligns with VCH's objectives.
  • Collaborate with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine to foster a culture of discovery and innovation.
  • Champion system-level transformational change and build the profile and value of research externally.
  • Secure financial support and funding for new and existing research endeavors.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is a recognized scientific leader and researcher with a demonstrated track record of understanding strategic connections to leverage research opportunities at a system-level. They must be able to distill a strategic vision down into practical applications and support a team in fulfilling that vision. A confident communicator and spokesperson, the successful candidate will be comfortable presenting to a wide range of audiences.
