Mechanical Locomotive Financial Specialist

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee the processing and validation of invoicing related to Long-Term Parts Agreements and other applicable third-party contracts.
- Ensure precise warranty tracking for materials as per contractual obligations and regularly submit warranty claims.
- Manage outsourced locomotive maintenance activities and repairs, while assisting in contract negotiations to ensure effective cross-billing controls.
- Drive enhancements in operational efficiency through lean continuous improvement initiatives, system and standard establishment, performance scorecards, and process management.
- Guarantee that accounting and reporting processes adhere to relevant internal control (SOX) standards.
- Identify and analyze process improvements, implementing selected solutions effectively.
- Lead the monthly budget forecasting for locomotive maintenance materials and third-party expenditures.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports and forecasts to executive leadership, providing actionable recommendations.
- Oversee annual OpEx and CapEx budget planning for locomotive maintenance, servicing, overhauls, and infrastructure improvements.
- Act as a liaison among Mechanical, Finance, HR, and other business divisions as necessary.
- Manage the development and execution of multi-year capital and SMA initiatives aimed at enhancing cost-effective servicing and repair of locomotives.
- Support the justification of equipment modifications and alterations to maintenance procedures.
- Participate in long-term planning teams for locomotives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields.
- Accounting designation is considered an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience in budget management, financial forecasting, and operational oversight, preferably in the transportation or mechanical engineering sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale OpEx and CapEx budgets.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel modeling.
- Experience with SAP or other relevant ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency in BPC or other financial management software and tools.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights, with the capability to simplify extensive data.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and relationship management skills.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of the Railway or Heavy Equipment industries is a plus.
