Senior Cost Consultant

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Consultant to join our team in Ottawa. As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will be responsible for preparing construction cost estimate reports at all stages of design, managing and taking responsibility for estimating and cost planning activities, and applying value management techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Estimation and Planning
- Prepare construction cost estimate reports at all stages of design.
- Manage and take responsibility for estimating and cost planning activities.
- Value Management
- Apply value management techniques at the outset of a package and where appropriate.
- Post-Tender Cost Analysis
- Perform post-tender cost analysis and reconciliations against values provided by the contractor.
- Cost Analysis and Valuation
- Ensure that cost analysis, cost checking, and valuation work is managed effectively.
- Research and Analysis
- Carry out research related to construction market conditions throughout Canada, including analysis of official published data as well as engaging with the market to obtain up-to-date rates for all construction products.
- Business Development
- Be aware and proactive to highlight potential opportunities to Associate Directors and Directors.
- Staff Management
- Input into the performance review process of consultants and graduate consultants.
- Recruitment
- Inclusion in the selection and recruitment process, including interviews.
- Knowledge Management
- Ensure that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database.
- Eligibility
- Eligible to work in Canada with Reliability Clearance with the Government of Canada.
- Experience
- 10 years' experience delivering pre-construction and post-contract construction cost services.
- Education
- A recognized University Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
- Professional Memberships
- Membership of Relevant Professional Organizations such as the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE).
