Position Overview
As a Seasonal Student in our Assurance & Accounting division, you will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of professionals committed to addressing the unique needs of our clients in a dynamic business and financial reporting environment. Your role will involve providing tailored financial insights that empower clients to make informed decisions confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance your technical skills in areas such as compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and taxation.
- Gain knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Organize files for new clients and newly established businesses while managing multiple files concurrently.
- Conduct professional walkthroughs for accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset transactions, and payroll.
- Summarize financial status by gathering information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of audit evidence related to expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses.
- Investigate and rectify discrepancies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Draft correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations detailing engagement findings.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and cultivate relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to enhance work processes while effectively utilizing MNP's internal systems.
- Maintain the flexibility to travel as required.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration with a concentration in accounting.
- Working towards the prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous experience in an accounting-related office setting is advantageous.
- Customer service or client service experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is beneficial.
