Position: Power Systems Technician at British Columbia Institute of Technology

Job Overview:

  • Accountable for managing inventory, maintaining educational tools, repairing specialized machinery, and configuring workshop equipment or instructional resources.
  • Ensures high standards of customer service and compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workshop Oversight:
    • Conducts routine maintenance on Power Engineering training equipment.
    • Remains informed about emerging technologies and regulatory standards.
    • Designs and fabricates educational modules and resources.
    • Implements strategies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Safety Management:
    • Advocates for and ensures adherence to safety practices.
    • Performs inspections to verify equipment safety.
    • Coordinates procedures for the collection and disposal of material waste.
  • Toolroom Management:
    • Develops and executes protocols for ordering and receiving components.
    • Maintains an inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Maintenance of Power Engineering Equipment:
    • Regularly initiates and monitors systems.
    • Participates in training for Records Custodian duties.
    • Undertakes additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • Two years of experience in general trades.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Robust operational and administrative capabilities.
