We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our Nuclear New Build initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving innovation in plant design and construction.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Oversee day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Provide leadership and coaching to management roles and senior professional staff executing commercial and internal work packages and projects.
- Be accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams.
- Manage the design, development, and implementation of projects, ensuring all engineering activities comply with regulatory and industry standards and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team in the areas of design, engineering, and general consulting activities for New Build opportunities.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in New Build methodologies, nuclear technology, and integrate new innovations into project designs.
- Ensure all engineering activities adhere to local, national, and international regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals and certifications.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and control processes.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Project Directors to communicate engineering progress and technical details to stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the nuclear, petrochemical, chemical processing, or power generation industries, with a focus on engineering and project management.
- Experience or knowledge in hydrogen or heavy water production is considered a plus.
- Experience or understanding of the regulatory processes with the Impact Assessment Agency and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission is considered a plus.
- Highly motivated and results-oriented self-starter with strong engineering and people management skills and experience.
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and large-scale projects.
- Broad understanding of SMRs and CANDU technologies and regulatory requirements is considered a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills.
