Position Overview

The 3rd and 4th year Apprentice Electricians play a crucial role in the installation and termination of conduits, cables, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components for Johnson Controls. This position involves the construction and fabrication of control panels and systems, as well as the installation of interlocking wiring and conducting wiring checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the installation and termination of conduits, cables, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components.
  • Construct and fabricate control panels, along with rough and finish wiring and control systems.
  • Install interlocking wiring and perform thorough wiring checks.
  • Ensure compliance with the NEC, NESC, NFPA, and UFC during the installation of system components and wiring.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control circuits for motors and various electrical devices.
  • Provide accurate material take-offs for electrical facilities equipment requirements.
  • Suggest modifications to plans to improve the operation and efficiency of systems.
  • Guarantee the accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Test installed, repaired, or modified equipment to ensure proper performance.
  • Conduct cleaning, lubrication, and other maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Stay informed about advancements in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.
  • Monitor parts usage and report any material issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to Johnson Controls' safety program standards and relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Registered as an apprentice electrician in Alberta and currently enrolled in a recognized trade school.
  • Ability to work under the guidance of journeyman electricians, collaboratively as part of a team, and independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with routine electrical maintenance operations is advantageous.
  • Highly adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
  • Capable of performing well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to interact with individuals in a sensitive, tactful, diplomatic, and professional manner at all times.

Employment Type : Full-time, Permanent

Compensation : $31.40 per hour (Journeyman rate $39.25)
