Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room plays a crucial role within the surgical team, dedicated to identifying and addressing the unique needs of surgical patients throughout their perioperative journey. Collaborating closely with the healthcare team, the RN utilizes both fundamental and advanced nursing knowledge to manage the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual responses of patients undergoing surgical procedures, aiming to maintain or restore optimal health.
Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates typically possess a Degree or Diploma in Nursing, along with a minimum of two years of recent acute care experience, including at least one year in an Operating Room environment. Eligibility for registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN) is required. Experience in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and/or Surgical Day Unit (SDU) is considered advantageous.
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Care is tasked with evaluating patient health status and responding to both actual and potential health issues, including urgent and critical situations, throughout the provision of inpatient nursing care.
Essential qualifications for this position generally include a Degree or Diploma in Nursing, with eligibility for registration with CANNN. Experience in critical care and/or obstetrics is viewed as an asset.
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department is responsible for assessing patient health status and addressing both actual and potential health concerns, including urgent and critical situations, on an ongoing basis.
To be eligible for this role, candidates should have a Degree or Diploma in Nursing, with at least one year of experience in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, or a related field, along with eligibility for registration with CANNN.
What We Offer
- Contracts ranging from 4 weeks to 4 months

- Continuous Service Allowance of $2.31 per hour
- Special Annual Allowance of $4.61 per hour (dependent on nursing station size)
This position is classified as Highly Sensitive, necessitating a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
It is important to note that COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement for employment. Proof of vaccination must be submitted with your application.
The Official Languages of Nunavut include Inuktut, English, and French. Applicants are encouraged to submit their resumes in any of these official languages. Proficiency in multiple official languages of Nunavut is considered an asset. Familiarity with Inuit communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, as well as experience in a northern cross-cultural setting, are also valued.
