Job Summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Operator to join our team at Brun-Way. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the highway and right-of-way assets to ensure conformance with required Operation, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation (OMR) standards and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of equipment and vehicles, including snowplow trucks, dump body trucks, loaders, and tractors, to maintain and repair the highway surfaces and other assets.
  • Perform general maintenance activities, such as pre-trip inspections, greasing, and washing of vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform manual labor required to maintain and repair the highway and related corridor assets, including traffic control, grass cutting, drainage facilities, signs, asphalt and concrete patching, and other assets.
  • Assist in accident response and site clean-up, and prepare daily work records of activities, including equipment operating times and vehicle performance.
  • Assist the Mechanics in routine vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs, as needed.
  • Assist in yard maintenance and general good house-keeping clean-up practices.
  • Assist with the annual detailed inspections for the highway asset management system.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' previous job-related experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of highway operations and working experience with various types of vehicles and equipment used in road maintenance activities is preferred.
  • Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver license with commercial vehicle endorsement (with air brake) is required.
  • Clean driving record is required.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with defined standards.
  • Good personal documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects on occasion.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a calm, patient, and professional manner.
