Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to contribute to our dynamic and innovative consulting practice in Kelowna, BC, on a permanent full-time basis.



Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Civil Engineering projects, including the creation, management, and preparation of engineering designs, studies, and reports for land development and municipal infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the preparation of necessary documents for approvals, including development and construction cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts, while ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of pursuing proposals by engaging team members and selecting appropriate proposal writers.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in non-technical areas.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to boost efficiency and productivity across the team.
  • Manage client relationships and projects to meet client expectations and performance goals.
  • Develop new business opportunities and establish strategic partnerships with key clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Administer construction contracts for high-value projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to facilitate successful operations.
  • Complete safety documentation for projects and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members, contributing expertise to design and construction administration activities.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly reporting, as well as design and team meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Some travel within British Columbia may be necessary.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a BSc degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 12 years of relevant Canadian experience.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  • Ability to design all aspects of municipal civil infrastructure, including sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
  • Demonstrated success in leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and proposals.
  • Excellent project management skills; preference will be given to candidates with PMP certification.
  • Strong contract administration skills; preference will be given to candidates with MMCD CCA certification.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines, and exhibit exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to achieving success for the firm, clients, and team.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills along with exceptional time management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with software packages for roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  • Experience in preparing stormwater management plans, master drainage plans, site stormwater management plans, and watershed plans.
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting, legislation, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with relevant professional practice guidelines.
