As a Storage Subject Matter Expert, you will be integral in the maintenance and enhancement of Suncor's Storage infrastructure. Your role will involve providing systems administration solutions for various projects and operational requirements, ensuring adherence to best practices in managing storage systems and services across all environments. You will collaborate with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes, monitor system performance, engage in capacity planning, and manage software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes across all storage environments, both cloud-based and on-premises. Troubleshooting issues, analyzing log data, and reporting performance anomalies will be key components of your daily responsibilities.
Key Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or a Technical College diploma
- Extensive knowledge of public and private cloud environments, IT infrastructure operations (including server/workload, storage/data protection, and networks), across various cloud service models
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT operations and/or project execution, with comprehensive knowledge of Dell/EMC Storage Arrays (such as PowerMax, PowerStore, VPLEX, Unity, Isilon/PowerScale), NetApp ONTAP, and experience in Brocade Fibre Channel SAN administration
- Proficient in NAS file share permissions (including SMB AD integration and NFS POSIX)
- Experienced with EMC replication technologies (such as TimeFinder, SRDF/S, VPLEX, SyncIQ) and Brocade Fibre Channel SAN administration
Core Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate practical experience with major cloud service providers, including AWS and Azure
- Lead the development of policies and processes specific to Cloud Storage Services, actively monitoring their effectiveness and promoting continuous improvement
- Support the advancement of cloud Storage adoption through effective collaboration with IT Projects, IT Operations, and key business stakeholders
- Enhance Suncor's Storage services by implementing best practices related to Automation, Microservices, and other methods to improve reliability while ensuring cybersecurity, cost-effectiveness, and compliance
Additional Information:
- This role is office-based
- Standard working hours are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- This position is security sensitive and requires a criminal history check
- Compensation is based on internal guidelines, reflecting years of experience and scope of work
