Team Collaboration: You will be part of the Bach-Simpson division, recognized as the leading Event Recorder OEM in the North American Transit sector. This division is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of a range of electronic systems for trains. The monitoring team focuses on the Bach-Simpson monitoring products and associated projects.

Your Impact: As a vital member of the monitoring team, you will report directly to the Products Line Manager. Your responsibilities will encompass the design, commissioning, and technical support of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems for Transit and Locomotive applications, varying in size and complexity, under the guidance of senior team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in circuit design, showcasing a robust portfolio of successful projects.
  • Proficiency in electronic design software, specifically Altium Designer and OrCAD.
  • Solid grasp of circuit theory and PCB design principles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electronic components, including diodes, transistors, optoelectronic devices, display technologies, discharge devices, power sources, and integrated circuits.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, firmware integration, and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Competence in using the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Knowledge of electronic and electrical systems design and programming.
  • Programming experience in C, with familiarity in real-time, multi-threaded, or memory-constrained operating systems.
  • Awareness of testing and certification standards pertinent to electronic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply procedures effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Outstanding fault-finding, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as necessary (10% or less).
  • Able to travel to the US for business purposes.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with fellow engineers to transition new products from prototype to production.
  • Conducting all technical work aspects, including reviewing specifications, project documentation, circuit design, and product testing.
  • Interpreting PCB, electrical, and mechanical schematics/drawings.
  • Designing and verifying electrical circuits, schematics, PCB layouts, hardware fixtures, and test jigs.
  • Creating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), Test Instructions, and Assembly and Wiring Instructions.
  • Producing detailed design documentation and estimating task completion times.
  • Reviewing drawings, BOMs, Test Instructions, Customer Specifications, and test specifications for accuracy.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards through testing and certification processes.
  • Engaging in Embedded C Programming and testing.
