Job Description

WSP Canada is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team in Sherbrooke, Quebec. As a key member of our Research and Development (R&D) team, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and testing mechanical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Improvement of Mechanical Workshop: Maintain and improve the mechanical workshop, including conventional machining equipment, various welding machines, a hydraulic press, and manual tools.
  • Prototype Fabrication and Assembly: Fabricate and assemble prototypes for R&D and production equipment (small series).
  • Product Maintenance and Improvement: Maintain and improve existing products.
  • Mechanical System Design: Participate in the design of mechanical systems.
  • Design and Drafting: Design and draft parts, assemblies, and layouts using Solidworks software.
  • Project Feasibility Study: Participate in the study of project feasibility.
  • New Product Development: Participate in the development of new products.
  • Purchasing and Installation: Purchase parts from external suppliers and participate in the installation of systems on site and user training.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare technical documents, including operation and maintenance manuals and test reports.

What We're Looking For
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: General knowledge of mechanics and machine elements.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety procedures in the workshop and at work.
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Skills: Competency with Solidworks software.
  • Machining Skills: Ability to use conventional machining equipment.
  • Welding Skills: Possession of welding certifications.
  • Curiosity and Problem-Solving: Ability to find innovative solutions for clients.
  • Language Skills: Good written and spoken English skills.
