Position Overview: The Chief Technology Officer will collaborate closely with the Executive Team to shape and implement the strategic vision for the company's Digital Transformation. This role demands a deep understanding of the technology landscape and a fervent desire to elevate Dumas to new heights. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse background in technology, with insights into emerging trends such as Business Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI, IoT, and Cybersecurity.

The Chief Technology Officer will be a dynamic leader, capable of aligning business objectives with innovative technology solutions, and leveraging data-driven strategies to enhance decision-making processes throughout Dumas, while ensuring seamless interoperability across all business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive the company's Digital Transformation initiatives in alignment with its broader growth objectives.
  2. Engage with leadership and staff to address challenges, coordinate efforts, and resolve issues.
  3. Maintain technology standards and best practices across the organization, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution of technical challenges.
  4. Oversee research and analysis of cutting-edge technologies, assessing their feasibility for implementation.
  5. Manage and supervise technology projects of varying scales, including research & development, planning, and deployment, adhering to the DORA framework.
  6. Stay informed on technology standards, industry trends, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  7. Proactively respond to significant technological shifts to uphold the company's leadership position in the market.
  8. Ensure compliance with community expectations and applicable laws regarding privacy, security, and social responsibility in internal processes and customer-facing services.
  9. Establish and enforce technical standards for product development and operational processes.
  10. Develop and oversee the departmental budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  11. Negotiate service level agreements with internal and external stakeholders, monitoring service delivery to meet established standards.
  12. Accountable for the recruitment, retention, mentoring, and professional development of all Technology personnel.
  13. Direct the formulation and execution of policies, procedures, and standards related to technology and telecommunications systems.
  14. Manage hardware and software procurement, inventory, and vendor relations, including RFPs and contracts.
  15. Ensure the integrity and continuous operation of the network infrastructure, including wireless systems, to support mission-critical operations.
  16. Oversee the development and validation of backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring robust network security at the corporate level.
  17. Responsible for safeguarding all data and networks, maintaining a proactive understanding of cybersecurity threats and implementing necessary protections and training.

Qualifications:

  1. 15 years of relevant business and IT experience, with a strong track record in managing cross-functional teams and projects.
  2. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  3. Prior experience in a technology-focused organization or within the Technology division of a Mining, Mining Services, Construction, or Engineering firm.
  4. Solid understanding of business processes and technologies that facilitate high-performance operations in high-volume environments.
  5. Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and develop a successful technology team.
  6. Capacity to balance immediate tactical decisions with long-term strategic planning.
  7. Demonstrated expertise in change management, including implementation, optimization, auditing, and project closure.
  8. Adept at working under tight deadlines and leading through challenging situations while adapting to rapidly changing business conditions.
  9. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including boards, peers, customers, vendors, and industry thought leaders.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills, fostering rapport and trust across the organization.
  11. Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows environments, including MS-SQL, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and Power BI dashboards, along with network management and VoIP systems.
  12. Understanding of optimal technology applications in underground mining settings, with a focus on enhancing safety through technology.
  13. Language proficiency: English required; Spanish highly desirable.
