Location: Calgary Office. This role primarily involves office-based tasks, but candidates should be prepared for occasional travel to various job sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee project teams to ensure the timely and successful completion of all project deliverables, documentation, and coordination of project needs. Responsibilities include assisting with designs, performing calculations, drafting documents, and preparing cost estimates in line with industry standards and CCI Inc.'s protocols. Projects may vary from minor integrity upgrades to trenchless installations, as well as comprehensive pipeline and facility designs and construction management support. This is an intermediate-level role, and the individual will operate under the direct supervision of the Pipeline & Facilities Manager and/or Trenchless Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring effective execution of engineering projects.
  • Adhering to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Cultivating productive relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Assisting in the completion of various project deliverables, including cost estimates, project schedules, engineered drawings, specifications, and feasibility evaluations.
  • Conducting quality control and verification.
  • Coordinating technical aspects with various disciplines, both internal and external.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant design codes and standards.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and proposals, including participation in industry conferences.
  • Traveling to sites for information gathering, as-built documentation, and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Aiding in the development and standardization of templates and project documents to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Coordinating departmental resources, including third-party subcontractors and vendors.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with Engineering Managers to ensure comprehensive departmental coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (Civil, Mechanical, or Geotechnical preferred).
  • Professional Engineer registration with APEGA (additional licensure is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field; construction and field experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with piping codes (CSA, ASME, PRCI, API).
  • Expertise in the design of pipeline and facility systems.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude, capable of working in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational capabilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and assume additional responsibilities.
  • A mindset focused on quality and safety.

Additional Skills and Training:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and PipeFlo software.
  • Technical writing capabilities.
  • Preference for candidates with trenchless design experience.
  • Professional licensure with other provincial associations is beneficial.
  • Safety training relevant to fieldwork in Alberta and BC is an asset; on-the-job training will be provided as necessary.
