Position Details

Job Title: Instrumentation Technician

Location: The Copper Mountain Mine is situated in a picturesque area, offering a vibrant community atmosphere with numerous outdoor activities. It is conveniently located near major urban centers.

Role Summary

Reporting directly to the Electrical Supervisor, the Instrumentation Technician plays a crucial role in collaborating with the electrical team to install, calibrate, and troubleshoot various field instrumentation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot field instrumentation systems.
  • Engage in control system programming and process troubleshooting utilizing the ABB 800xA historical data collection system.
  • Collaborate with the electrical department to install and resolve issues with 600V variable speed drives and motors.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities related to the Instrumentation Technician role as directed by the department head.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possession of a Red Seal Trade Certification in Instrumentation and Controls Technician.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems and PLC programming is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Toshiba Drives, ABB Software, Singer Valve, and Rotork Valve maintenance is preferred.
  • A valid Class 5/7N driver's license and access to personal transportation are required.

  • Proficient decision-making skills and interpersonal communication.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to staying current with technological advancements in the field.
  • Capable of supporting maintenance and operational requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate proper lifting techniques for loads up to 25 kilograms.
  • Clean-shaven appearance is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license is essential.
  • Must fulfill pre-employment testing criteria.

Working Environment

  • The role involves a mix of shop and fieldwork, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to challenging work conditions, including noise and dusty or wet environments.
  • Physical demands include heavy lifting, awkward positions, and prolonged walking and standing.

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening and drug & alcohol testing.
  • Proof of a valid Class 5/7N driver's license is required.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada must be demonstrated.
  • Confirmation of valid educational qualifications is necessary.
