Job Title: Research Assistant - Academic Writing Project

At Douglas College, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our investigative research project on Generative AI in Academic Writing.

Project Overview:

The project aims to explore the use of generative AI tools among undergraduate students in Canada, examining their benefits and challenges, and their impact on student learning and academic integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in data collection, data coding, and data entry
  • Support the supervisor with the recruitment and scheduling of research participants
  • Assist in knowledge dissemination

Requirements:

  • Background in social studies or humanities
  • Proficient with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong organizational skills and project management experience

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Domestic students must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College throughout the work term
  • Enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of two or more (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. throughout the work term

International students must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, throughout the academic year
  • Enrolled in full-time studies at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C., with a valid Study Permit

What We Offer:

Qualified Douglas College students meeting the above criteria will be given first preference over students of other qualifying institutions.
