Key Responsibilities

Architectural & Engineering Excellence:

  • Shape and contribute to the organizational technology strategy, ensuring its successful implementation within your projects and domains.
  • Act as a change agent with a strong sense of ownership and a forward-thinking approach, actively identifying architectural opportunities, advocating for and proposing improved solutions, rapidly prototyping, frequently showcasing and gathering feedback, and thoroughly documenting to secure buy-in.
  • Lead architectural design with a systematic approach, balancing overall design and scalability of software architecture with immediate feature development.
  • Play a vital role in continuously improving engineering practices, making a significant long-term impact on team efficiency and quality of output.
  • Produce high-quality documentation, such as Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), facilitate design reviews, and maintain architectural wikis to promote self-learning and efficient onboarding.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow architects across various teams and domains within the organization to align and synchronize architectural initiatives.

Execution:

  • Oversee major projects and features across teams from the design phase through coding and testing.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and engineering leaders, working with partner teams to execute the product and technology roadmap.

Mentorship:

  • Coach and mentor colleagues through formal mentorship programs or daily practices such as pair programming, code/design reviews, and hackathons.
  • Play a crucial role in recruitment, serving as a bar-raiser to enhance team talent.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in developing large-scale, high-traffic distributed web platforms/APIs serving millions of users.
  • Exceptional programming skills in Java / Scala, Javascript, and solid knowledge of GraphQL.
  • Proven track record of identifying high-value, complex technical challenges and steering them towards effective solutions with a significant positive impact.
  • Successfully established alignment with senior stakeholders on the technical direction for challenging problem areas.
  • Developed and promoted the adoption of technical patterns that notably improved engineering practices across the organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership, embracing differences and disagreements to drive progress and move forward.
  • Deeply committed to nurturing others, with exceptional mentoring and coaching abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience (or a Master's degree in Computer Science and 12+ years of software design and relevant experience).
