About the Role

Last Spike Construction Ltd. is seeking a skilled Framing Carpenter to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of our buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Blueprint Reading and Layout: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and prepare layouts in conformance to building codes.
  • Material Preparation and Installation: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Finishing Touches: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Leadership and Training: Instruct apprentices and supervise other workers to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various establishments, including mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's Licence: Possess a valid driver's licence to travel to work sites.
  • Work Environment: Work in a noisy, dusty, and outdoor environment.
  • Work Setting: Work in a construction setting with a 40-hour workweek.
