Job Title: Senior Urban Designer

At Arcadis, we are seeking a talented Senior Urban Designer to join our Placemaking Studio in Ottawa. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with senior leadership to grow the Placemaking practice in Ottawa and mentor junior team members in the design and implementation of various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and collaborate with senior leadership to develop creative content for RFP responses and support marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with and mentor junior urban designers, planners, and landscape architects on private and public sector projects.
  • Independently manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams and assist with project completion from initial proposal compilation to detailed design and report delivery.
  • Develop master plans, site plans, built form, and massing for various projects.
  • Prepare and present high-quality graphic presentations, detailed design schemes, and reports.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure deadlines and budgetary constraints are met.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or Landscape Architecture.
  • 10+ years of experience in Urban Design or related fields, with proven experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success working with public and private sector clients in the Ottawa region.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of assisting in report preparation and design narratives.
  • Independent design capabilities to prepare site plan and master plan concepts.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, and 3D modeling skills.
  • Strong mentorship capabilities to guide junior designers and professionals.
  • Capacity to uphold design excellence in challenging project timeframes and deadlines.
