Position Summary

Title: Electrical Technician

Role Purpose: The Electrical Technician plays a crucial role in performing both preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems. This position involves diagnosing circuit issues and applying technical knowledge to install, refurbish, or repair electrical apparatus as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in responding to service requests.
  • Diagnose electrical circuit issues.
  • Repair or replace electrical components as required.
  • Recommend modifications or replacements for electrical systems.
  • Maintain and calibrate various equipment.
  • Conduct circuit testing and setup.
  • Interpret blueprints and wiring schematics.
  • Solder wires to electrical devices.
  • Adhere to current electrical codes and CSA standards.
  • Engage with clients effectively.
  • Comply with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Propose replacement parts and manage ordering processes.
  • Maintain tools and other necessary equipment.
  • Address internal and external inquiries.
  • Ensure availability of required tools and supplies for each task.
  • Maintain high standards of quality across all projects.
  • Support the training and development of junior team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of secondary education along with vocational or technical training.
  • Red Seal Industrial Electrician certification with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with RF, high voltage, analog, and digital components.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, including Allen Bradley controllers, variable speed drives, and communication networks.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and work planning abilities.
