Labourer - Copper Picking and Mill Maintenance

Job Summary

EVRAZ North America is seeking a Labourer to join our team in Portland, Oregon. As a Labourer, you will be responsible for picking copper off moving conveyor, cleaning around the mill, and assisting shredder mechanics in changing out conveyors, bearing shafts, and greasing.

Responsibilities
  • Pick copper to ensure that quality material is shipped to our customers
  • Keep work area clean and ready to go daily
  • Keep conveyor pulleys clean
  • Report any issues that arise immediately
  • Assist shredder mechanics during projects
  • Assist in meeting monthly production goals
Requirements
  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
  • Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
  • Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, work safely and making sure everyone around him are working safely
  • Strong command of the English language both written and spoken
  • Able to communicate clearly using a handheld radio
