About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our team at Plainsman Mfg. Inc. as a CNC Lathe/Mill Operator. This is a full-time position working on the night shift, and we require the successful candidate to be based in the Edmonton area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC lathes and mills with minimal supervision, ensuring high-quality production and efficient use of resources.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately set up and operate machines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet production targets, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Participate in quality control processes, identifying and addressing any defects or issues.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior staff members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machining, with a strong background in lathe and mill operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a focus on mathematics and science.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of imperial measurement systems, basic hand tools, and power tools.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming and control operations, with experience in g-code and programming languages.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CNC setup and programming, including knowledge of tool geometry offsets and machine controls.
  • Knowledge of machine tooling and its use, including insert sizes and naming conventions.
  • Ability to use basic machine shop toolings, such as grinders, stampers, and deburring equipment.
  • Experience with quality control processes, including inspection and testing of finished products.
