Job Summary
Brightshores is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Day Surgery and PACU department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for promoting health, assessing, providing care, and treating health conditions in adults and children during phase I and II recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and provide care to patients in the perianesthesia setting, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of patient care, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in nursing care.
- Contribute to a safe and respectful work environment, adhering to Brightshores' 'CARE' Behaviours and 'LEAD' Competencies.
Requirements
- Ontario College of Nurses registration or eligibility.
- Minimum 2 years PACU and acute care nursing experience within the past 5 years.
- Broad surgical experience required in all subspecialties.
- Successful completion of Post Anaesthetic Course within the last 3 years.
- Physical Assessment Course or equivalent.
- Coronary Care Certificate I or equivalent.
- Current certification in BCLS, Venipuncture to start an IV, IV meds below the drip chamber, PCA, and Epidural analgesia.
- Demonstrated computer skills in MS Outlook and Cerner applications (Powerchart and Surginet).
- Excellent assessment, communication, and leadership skills.
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing.
- ACLS certification.
- Care of CVP, endotracheal tubes/ventilated extubation of an endotracheal tube.
