Job Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler will be responsible for assembling, testing, and repairing a variety of products in a production assembly team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Lead Hand and/or Supervisor and will be expected to participate in the development of new and revised product materials, processes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test products using standard and non-standard tools, equipment, and procedures.
  • Read and interpret equipment assembly specifications, including charts, schematics, blueprints, and typed instructions.
  • Identify and report technical problems to the Lead Hand for resolution.
  • Operate rigging equipment, forklifts, and other machinery.
  • Assemble mechanical components and participate in regular shop/yard organization and cleanliness exercises.
  • Train new employees in assembly operations as required.
  • Complete and maintain various records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently or in a team on complex and multiple projects.
  • Familiarize yourself with operation controls, including safe working practices and job hazard analysis.
  • Responsible for following all applicable company and corporate policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist with shop maintenance requirements.
  • Supply your own tools, with a minimum recommendation list available.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrate aptitude in mechanical and/or hydraulic assembly, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and departments.

Work Environment:

  • Shop environment, warehouse, and working indoors/outdoors.
  • Possibility to be exposed to dust, fumes, or gases and changes of temperature/humidity.
  • Physical requirements: squatting, bending, lifting 60lbs, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, reaching, twisting, crawling, climbing, ladder work, and working near moving equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid, forklift, overhead crane training beneficial.
  • Required to wear steel toe boots, safety glasses or side shields, hard hat, and ear protection.
