POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Estimator is vital to the successful planning and execution of construction projects at CANA. Estimators collaborate with both preconstruction and construction teams by preparing and distributing tender packages, developing estimates for all project phases, and maintaining precise and current cost databases. The Estimator reports directly to the Chief Estimator.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing project requirements and estimate specifications, reviewing project scopes, formulating a plan for estimate development, and identifying subcontractor scope packages.
- Reviewing architectural plans and specifications to perform takeoffs and ascertain material, equipment, and labor requirements and costs.
- Preparing comprehensive tender packages, including all necessary forms, schedules, and attachments, while securing all required approvals, insurance, and bonding submissions.
- Issuing tender packages and coordinating the collection of subcontractor bids, evaluating bids for accuracy.
- Maintaining confidential records and files, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date, and conducting bid leveling for precise cost comparisons.
- Recommending cost-effective solutions and identifying potential risks, opportunities, and strategies.
- Building and sustaining strong relationships with local trades, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and project owners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating for industrial, commercial, and institutional construction projects.
- A diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A solid understanding of various building types, traditional subcontractor work scopes, construction systems and methods, specifications, building codes, tendering practices, and contract types.
- A relationship-oriented individual focused on meeting both internal and external customer needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Familiarity with Planswift; experience with Microsoft Project and/or Revizto is considered an asset.
