Qualifications and Requirements

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current practicing full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
  • Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
  • One to two years' experience working with Mental Health & Substance Use Services clients.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrated clinical skills in working with seriously mentally ill and/or addicted clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services to clients with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to promote client independence and well-being.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive client care.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify client needs and goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and services to ensure seamless client care.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of relevant legislation.
