The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join our Transit Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the planning and operations of our transit system.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate transit business and operating strategies to inform decision-making and optimize system performance.
- Develop and implement plans for new transit facilities and services, as well as transit service changes.
- Participate in long-term planning of the transit system, ensuring alignment with city-wide goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual and long-range capital and operating budgets for the department.
- Analyze and report on current and future ridership, revenue, and other performance measures to inform strategic decision-making.
- Conduct functional planning and design of transit facilities and fleet requirements, ensuring compliance with city regulations and standards.
- Plan and manage research and surveys to gather data and insights on transit system performance and user behavior.
- Ensure that urban planning and development proposals are compatible with transit objectives and city-wide goals.
- Evaluate the capacity and level of service of transit routes, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
- Coordinate bus operations with the city's management of the road network, ensuring seamless and efficient service delivery.
- Completion of a 4-year university degree in geography, urban planning, engineering, operations research, economics, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transit planning or a similar field in a large organization.
- Strong understanding of transit planning and scheduling principles, as well as economic principles and concepts of ridership forecasting, performance evaluation, and return on investment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data and make informed recommendations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.
