Job Summary:

Bouchier is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Special Projects division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, and graders, to support roads and grounds projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner to execute tasks with precision and efficiency.
  • Perform finish grading operations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Adhere to legislative requirements, company policies, and procedures regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and security of all assigned equipment, conducting regular inspections and maintenance checks as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals, demonstrating adaptability to perform laborer duties as needed.
  • Proactively communicate any equipment issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives, including Job Hazard Assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to enhance equipment operation techniques and efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, General Foreman, and Site Manager.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of heavy equipment experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required, Class 1 or 3 is preferred.
  • Clean 5-year Driver Abstract obtained within 30 days of starting work is required.
  • One of the following basic Safety Orientations is required: CSTS09 or OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Safety conscious attitude.
  • Must be willing to work in fluctuating climates (hot, cold, wet) and environmental conditions.
  • Must be comfortable working in close proximity to water.
  • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty test.
  • All applicants must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
  • All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • WHMIS 2015 Certification is an asset.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification is an asset.
  • Ground Disturbance Certification is an asset.
  • OSSA Confined Space Entry and Monitor Certification is an asset.
  • First Aid Certification is an asset.
