Northern Gateway Public Schools is seeking a Part-time Indigenous Liaison Worker to join our team at Hilltop High School. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in promoting Indigenous culture and fostering positive relationships between the school and our families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff to promote Indigenous culture and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational assistants to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in planning and implementing culturally relevant programs and events, such as feasts, round dances, and cultural awareness activities.
  • Provide support to families and students to help students stay in school or return to school.
  • Work with families, students, staff, and other stakeholders to support students with high school completion and post-secondary planning.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Education in Indigenous Studies is an asset.
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth.
  • Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
    • Establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and staff.
    • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with teachers and other educational assistants in the classroom/school.
    • Understand and carry out oral and written direction.
    • Work independently with minimal instruction.

    • Be aware of NGPS policies and administrative procedures.
