About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Rolling Mill Technician to join our diverse team for the Afternoon shift. You will be responsible for the day-to-day setup and maintenance of rolling mills within our Extrusion department, participating in Continuous Improvement activities and ensuring the highest possible Customer satisfaction rating.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and maintain rolling mills in order, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  2. Provide support to Extrusion Operators in troubleshooting during the operation of the line, utilizing your mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  3. Polish roll sets after removal from the mills and store them in their designated racks, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  4. Report any roll or die issues, or abnormalities of machinery, to your supervisor immediately, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
  5. Follow all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
  6. Utilize tools such as the shadow-graph, cut section, and Mylar to ensure accurate and efficient setup and maintenance.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in an industrial field, with a strong background in mechanical aptitude and problem-solving.
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates with relevant certifications or training.
  • Knowledge of the Extrusion process and profiles, with the ability to methodically problem-solve mechanical and process issues.
  • Able to lift 50lbs to the waist and 40lbs overhead, with a strong emphasis on physical stamina and endurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified forklift operator, with an asset for candidates possessing this skill.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, with an asset for candidates with experience in this area.
