About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Education Assistant with expertise in Sign Language to join our team at School District #44 (North Vancouver). This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with hearing impairments in a variety of settings, including classrooms and community activities.
  • Assist students with communication needs, including interpreting Sign Language and providing visual support.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including progress notes and communication logs.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Special Education Assistant certificate or equivalent training.
  • Sign Language proficiency, with a minimum of Level 3 or higher.
  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
