Your Opportunity:
The Seniors Mental Health program is dedicated to providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation services for individuals typically aged 65 and older who are experiencing psychiatric conditions such as dementia, mood disorders, and thought disorders. Our mission is to empower each patient to achieve their highest level of functioning in preparation for reintegration into the community. We offer specialized programming in areas including Mood and Thought Disorders, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Enrichment, and Specialized Dementia Care. Our focus is on delivering tailored treatment and medication guidance for seniors with complex needs.
Position Overview:
As a Psychiatric Aide, you will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to addressing the personal care needs and comfort of patients in alignment with their care plans and facility protocols. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting nursing staff in delivering routine care to fulfill patients' hygiene, nutritional, mobility, recreational, and safety requirements.
- Facilitating organized activities and programs to enhance patient engagement.
- Observing and documenting patients' moods, health status, and overall well-being.
- Maintaining effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Contributing to a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Supporting the overall functionality of the work area.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 is essential. A combination of relevant education and experience that meets the employer's satisfaction will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
This position is expected to transition to Recovery Alberta in the near future. Successful candidates will be informed of this transition. Current employees under the relevant Collective Agreement who accept an employment offer after the specified date will not retain rights under the Layoff and Recall provisions.
