Senior Technology Architect

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months
  • Pay Range: C$900 to 915/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, propose, document, execute, and oversee the technical framework (hardware, software, database, and communication systems) for applications within a vast, distributed cross-platform ecosystem.
  • Assess pertinent information and define the development environment.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven leadership in formulating and executing technical frameworks at a senior level.
  • Broad experience across at least three distinct platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with middleware and gateways.
  • Understanding of performance considerations across various environments.
  • Proficient in structured methodologies for application design, development, and implementation.
  • Significant experience in systems analysis and design within extensive systems environments.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing processes aligned with ITIL and mentoring others in this framework.
  • Ability to translate business needs into reporting requirements.
  • Experience in crafting conceptual, logical, and/or physical process and data models.
  • Expertise in developing, proposing, executing, and managing technical frameworks.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and directions.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation capabilities.
  • A collaborative team member with a proven record of meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in creating enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g., models).

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Esri-based geospatial solutions, including ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server, GIS infrastructure, middleware, maintenance, services, applications, databases, monitoring, and tools.
  • Understanding of integrated networking technologies, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Spatial, MS Fabric, midrange server, enterprise storage, and personal computer system technologies.
  • Experience in producing enterprise architecture deliverables based on established government enterprise architecture processes and practices.
  • Familiarity with Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.

Critical Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design within large enterprise settings, including the preparation of conceptual, logical, and/or physical process and data models.
  • Ability to quickly and clearly document architectural designs.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

IT Architecture Experience - 40%

  • Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical frameworks at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design within large enterprise environments, including the preparation of conceptual, logical, and/or physical process and data models.
  • Experience in supporting IT infrastructure modernization, maintenance, and the creation of new solutions (services, tools, applications, databases, etc.).
  • Ability to rapidly and succinctly document architectural designs.

Technical Experience - 35%

  • Experience in designing Esri-based geospatial solutions, including ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server.
  • Familiarity with various spatial and non-spatial database technologies (e.g., Oracle Spatial, Azure SQL DB, MS Fabric, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure (e.g., virtual hardware, scaling, middleware, gateways, storage, and levels of highly available deployments).

Communication Experience - 20%

  • Experience in conveying technical concepts to client audiences.
  • Ability to negotiate to achieve consensus.
  • Experience in supporting stakeholder engagement.

IT Public Sector Experience - 5%

  • Experience in supporting IT projects within the government sector.
  • Experience overseeing Digital First Assessments, Cyber Security, Architecture reviews, and other corporate evaluations.
  • Familiarity with government enterprise architecture processes and practices.
